The Minister for Housing, Darragh O’Brien TD, has formally marked the opening of 22 new social housing units in Duleek for the North and East Housing Association (NEHA).
The NEHA is an Approved Housing Body which now manages a portfolio of 716 houses across 11 local authority areas in the east of the country. In Meath alone, it manages 185 homes.
The new homes have been designed specially to accommodate elderly residents and those with limited mobility who have been drawn from the housing list of Meath County Council.
The development launched today is at Colliers Place, Abbey Road, Duleek, it comprises 18 one-bed and 4 two-bed bungalows which have been specially designed for older tenants and those with limited mobility.
John Cunniffe, Chairperson of NEHA, said earlier today that the new units were an important addition to the housing stock in County Meath.
“These units are specially designed for older and less mobile residents who are sometimes overlooked in the national debate about housing. These homes all have universal access design, they are all A-rated and the residents will enjoy a safe, secure home in a beautiful community setting here in Duleek.”
Funding for the development was provide by Capital Advanced Leasing Facility from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and loan finance was secured via the Housing Finance Agency.
The developer was Ivan Blake-BKC Alliance Ltd. The architect was Foster Associates, and the Builder was Zilic Developments Ltd.
