The ever popular Setanta Games, hosted by Athletics Louth in the Lourdes Stadium recently, was a great success for organisers, athletes and spectators alike, with plenty of Boyne AC athletes in action across a variety of events.
Getting things off to a great start for Boyne AC, young Stella Gow raced to victory in the u8 girls 60m final, and also took bronze in the 300m race. It was gold also for Caitlin Hughes in the u10 girls 500m.
In the boys u11 500m race, Cillian Hickey took a well-deserved silver medal, with Will Gow just behind him claiming the bronze. George Curran won his heat of the u11 boys race, while Cillian Hickey and Sean Clarke finished 2nd and 3rd in their heat, with Cillian taking silver in the final, and Sean just outside the medals in 5th.
in the girls sprint, Aoife Mccabe finished 2nd in her heat, and ran well in the final. In the u12 60m sprint, Hila Raji and Isabelle Winters both finished 2nd in their heats, with Hila taking silver in the final, and in the longer distance races, the u12 girls had a tough 600m to race over, with Isabelle Winters just outside the medals in 4th, as was Robyn Reilly in the u13 race.
In their 80m sprint, Mollie Fay showed that her hard work at training is paying off as she finished 3rd in her heat, while Robyn Reilly and Ellen Boylan finished 3rd and 4th in their heat, with Cuan Gamble finishing 4th in his heat of the u13 boys sprint. In the distance races, Eoin McEntee took a fine silver in his u13 600m.
Talented sprinter Bonnie Hegarty took a comfortable win in her u14 80m sprint, and took home the gold medal in the final, while in the boys final, it was silver for Cillian Everitt and bronze for teammate Louis Devitt.
Hannelle raji took silver in the girls u15 100m sprint final, while Aimee Rice continues to improve as she took the bronze medal in the u16 sprint race. Shauna Rice ran a great race to place 5th in her u15 800m race, while Seamus Keenan finished just outside the medals in 4th in the boys race, with Evan Gamble in 6th.

In the boys u16 100m sprint, up and coming Harry Devitt led from the gun taking a comfortable win, while in the u19 100m, Hannah newman took gold in the girls race, with Jack Devitt the winner in the boys u19 sprint, followed by Caoimhin McShane in 2nd and Tom Redmond in 4th. In the last of the distance races, and young Jack Garvey, who is fast becoming a middle distance runner of note, took silver in the u16 800m.
Continuing their successful day, the field events saw plenty of super Boyne AC action, with Hila raji, Ruby Cooper and Isabelle Winters all finishing it the top 8 in the u13 Shot Put, competing out of age too. Hannelle Raji took a worthy silver in the u15 Shot Put, with a fine throw of 8.93m, and it was gold for Aimee Rice and Hannah Newman in the girls u17 and 19 Shot Put.

In the u9 turbo javelin, Heather Kingston finished 3rd to claim the bronze medal, with Sophie Alhaddad in 6th. Not to be out done by his little sister, Harry Kingston threw an impressive 16.43 to take the win in the u11 boys turbo javelin, with impressive throws from teammates Cillian Hickey, Charlie Kelly, Will Gow, Charlie Cooper and Sean Clarke.
Stella Gow added another bronze to her medal haul, this time in the u8 long jump, while in the u12 long jump, it was silver for Hila raji, with good efforts too from Isabelle Winters, Aoife McCabe, Ruby Cooper and Ashley Byrne. Cillian Everitt jumped 4.02m to take silver in the u14 boys long jump, while Hannelle raji also took silver in the u16 girls event, with silver also going to Harry Devitt in the u16 boys and Hannah Newman in the u19 girls Long Jump.
