From Belurgan to Amsterdam its action all the way for Boyne AC

Leading the way for Boyne AC at the Uneven age Athletics Louth Cross Country Championships at Belurgan recently was young Ruby Winters who proved she is following in her big sister’s footsteps with a fine 4th place in the u8s non-championship race, with Cormac Brodigan running well in the boys race.

In the championships proper, Malachy Brodigan ran a super race over the 600m distance, finishing just outside the medals in 4th, with teammate Conor Hughes in 10th and Rasmus Fangerau in 17th place.

In the girls u11 race, Caitlin Hughes finished in the top 20, despite running out of age, as did Isabelle Winters in the u13 race, finishing in 11th place.

Eoin McEntee pushed hard to finish in a fine 5th place in the boys u13 2,500m race, followed closely by clubmate Riley Byrne in 8th, while Ruadhan Fangerau also ran well over this tough distance.

In the u15 girls race, Shauna Rice provided one of the standout performances of the day with a super strong run over the 3,500m distance, finishing in an impressive 5th place overall.

While in the boys u15 race, it was team silver for the super impressive trio of Seamus Keenan, who was just pipped on the line for an individual medal, finishing in 4th place, Naoise McAvinia in 6th followed closely by teammate Evan Gamble.

The under 17 boys had a tough 4,000m distance to race over, with Jack Garvey running out of age finishing in a fine 5th place overall. In the intermediate mens race, Andrew White ran a super time of 33.38 for the 8k distance, finishing 15th overall.

Also in action recently, club chairperson, Catherine Tiernan Bell, travelled to Amsterdam on Sunday last for the ever popular TCS Marathon. A beautiful clear day saw over 16,000 entrants take to this fast and flat route, with Catherine securing herself a super new PB time crossing the line in a lightning quick 3.32.
