The Drogheda Dual Carriageway cycle scheme has been welcomed by Drogheda Cycling Group, following planning approval from Louth County Council
Chairperson Noel Hogan thanked the council’s Active Travel team and Drogheda councillors who supported the scheme.
We wish to thank the Active Travel team in Louth County Council for their hard work in developing this scheme, and especially to each and every one of the Drogheda Councillors who supported it, he said.
This scheme will make the Dual Carriageway a safer place for everyone who uses it, cyclist, pedestrian or motorist, and is just the first part of a much bigger scheme supporting Active Travel in Drogheda.
Hogan said the next step would be securing funding.
The Councillors and the Active Travel team have done their part, it’s now up to the NTA and the Department of Transport to step up to the plate and fund this scheme, he said.
We look forward to working with our Oireachtas representatives to ensure that the NTA and the Department of Transport match the Council’s ambition in this regard.
