McKee appointed to the Meath Economic Development Forum

East Meath Councillor Stephen McKee has been appointed as a member of the newly-created Meath Economic Development Forum and he says he is looking forward to promoting the South Drogheda and East Meath area.

McKee stated: “As Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District and Chairman of the Planning, Economic Development, Enterprise and European Affairs SPC, it is a privilege to have been appointed as a Member of the Meath Economic Development Forum.”

“The goal of the Economic Development Forum is to attract further investment into County Meath and create additional jobs and opportunities” he said.

“Meath has a vibrant workforce, having the second lowest average age in the country as well as the second highest population growth over the last number of years.

“There are two strategic employment sites in the South Drogheda and East Meath including the IDA Business and Technology Park on the Donore Road, Drogheda. The other site is a 33 acre site close to Laytown Train Station, off the Laytown-Julianstown road.

“Meath has significant economic potential to prosper as a successful, diverse and vibrant social, civic, commercial and residential location that is a highly attractive place in which to live and work.

“The Forum includes business leaders and entrepreneurs who will share their experience to facilitate economic activity and growth in the county while overseeing the preparation and implementation of the new Meath Economic Development Strategy. Colm O’Rourke has been appointed as the Forum Chairman.’

“I look forward to playing my part for the County and also, in particular, promoting the South Drogheda and East Meath area to attract new investment, sustain existing indigenous business and enterprise and identify new job opportunities for the area to increase prosperity and the quality of life of local people.”
