Power pushes council for gas boiler servicing plan

Independent Councillor Declan Power has asked Louth County Council for an update on their plans for servicing gas boilers in local authority houses.

“Many of these have not been serviced in several years,” Cllr Power said. “Not alone is it dangerous and harmful to health; if these boilers break down, it will be costly to replace them in the long run.”

Declan Grimes of Louth County Council responded at the January Drogheda Borough Council meeting by saying: “LCC iss working on a servicing plan of gas and oil boilers throughout the county, having received extra funding.

“We are also working on completing a Heating Appliance Service and maintenance plan, including heating pumps that are prominent in new builds. “This will take time to complete but is in progress. I will provide an update of the plan shortly.”

Cllr. Power said that, any Council tenant who has an issue with a gas boiler should register their problem with the customer service department at Louth Council Council so that the issue can be resolved immediately.

“I have been pressing the Council for the last six months to provide a service plan for gas boilers. No tenant should be left with heating and subsequent health problems, especially as we head into a cold snap.”
