The new CEO of Louth County Council David Conway had a busy time in Drogheda this week.
He visited the Old Abbey to inspect the wonderful work carried out by local volunteers and community champions John Bannon and Eugene Brannigan over the past few years to completely transform the area.
Mr Conway congratulated both men for their outstanding work and their deep sense of civic duty which is an inspiration to the people of Drogheda.
The CEO saw for himself the wonderful potential of the whole Old Abbey and he had a great chat with the lads to get their ideas over lunch provided by the crew in the Graft BruHub.
The County Council chief was accompanied by local Sinn Fein TD Joanna Byrne and Cllr Debbie McCole plus some members of the Community Gardai.
Mr Conway is spending a lot of time in Drogheda to see for himself what improvements the local authority can help make in the locality.
Local councillors have made strong representations to Louth County Council to buy the nearby Abbey Shopping Centre which is currently on the market for half a million euros.
They believe the purchase of it is vital for the West End Vision of Drogheda.
