The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has announced funding for, amongst other projects, a €90k upgrade of St. Dominic’s Park and playground, €30k for an outdoor gym at The Glen and another €90k for the refurbishment of the multi-use games area at Moneymore.
Welcoming the news, local Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd, said that in total some €1.5m had been secured for projects in county Louth as part of the first ever Community Recognition Fund which supports and rewards communities that have welcomed families and citizens from Ukraine and other countries.
“Minister Heather Humphreys confirmed the news to me this morning and I’m delighted to see so many local projects supported through this new initiative” O’Dowd said.
“The funding has spread across the county with and I’m particularly pleased to see that €255k has been awarded to Termonfeckin to further extend the footpath from the village to Seapoint Beach.
“Separately in East Meath the Sonairte centre secured €34k for much needed repairs and accessibility improvements and in Ardee the People’s Park was awarded €80k for an upgrade.
O’Dowd added “This funding will make a real difference on the ground and I look forward to seeing the projects progress.”
“The €50 million Community Recognition Fund announce today will support 880 projects across the country.”
