It’s been a long, long journey and is a triumph of local community cooperation and now, finally, the Tredagh Lodge Alzheimer Daycare centre at Greenhills is nearing completion.
Needless to say the fundraising must continue though because, as anyone that has ever built a new house will tell you, a building is not just bricks and mortar, fitting it out can drain the coffers also.
Everyone with anything to do with the Tredagh Lodge project, whether they’re staff, volunteers or service users, wants to get the doors open and the service up and running as soon as possible so there is a big push on to get in there as soon as possible in the New Year.
And so the fundraising continues.
Niamh Curtis has been a long-time supporter of the project and in the past has run many fundraising events including Christmas markets in Julianstown and raffles.
This time around she has organised an online raffle and has gathered together an impressive array of prizes which includes a MacBook Air, Apple Watch, Apple Airpods, and a Saddler Leather Commuter Bag.
All proceeds will go towards the new building along with day to day running costs for the centre in Drogheda.
“Bigger accommodation means bigger outgoings such as extra staff, gardens and supports to make our centre a home from home for our clients” she said.
Tickets cost just €5 each or six for €20 and one winner will take home all four of the prizes. The draw will take place on Monday December 20.
