The GOAL Mile has become part of the Christmas tradition in Ireland. In villages, towns and cities across Ireland and further afield, the event sees tens of thousands of people run or walk a mile to raise funds in support of the humanitarian work carried on by the Irish overseas aid agency GOAL.
Why to go the extra mile?
The GOAL Mile is a great excuse to get outdoors, achieve your fitness goals and have fun with your family and friends this Christmas. Plus, you’ll support people living in vulnerable communities who are facing extreme poverty or crisis. Locally there are several GOAL Miles to choose from.
Boyne AC
Boyne AC will hold their first ever GOAL mile on Stephen’s Day at 11am in the Meadow view field. All are welcome to come along, to walk, jog or run, burn off the Christmas Dinner! Registration can be made through the GOAL website https://www.goalglobal.org/ or see Boyne AC Facebook page. Entries will also be taken on the day.
Termonfeckin
The Termonfeckin GOAL Mile takes place on the 26th December in the grounds of St Feichins GAA, Beaulieu at 11am. This the 14th GOAL mile. Last year was done in a virtual manner so it is great to be back face to face.
The GOAL Mile in Termonfeckin is a lovely family event which has become a tradition in the area. Each year sees lots of the same family and friend groups attending the mile to walk off the turkey!
The organisers are really looking forward this year to welcoming new participants in the mile to raise funds for the very important humanitarian and development work that GOAL do around the world.
Dunleer
Dunleer AC are organising our GOAL Mile this year on Christmas morning 25th December from 10am to 12pm at our running track at our Clubrooms beside the Lann Leire GAA pitch. All are welcome, each participant will receive a certificate of completion (mainly the kids to be honest!) and we will have some sweets and goodies for all walkers, joggers and runners.
St Colmcilles GAA
St Colmcilles GOAL Mile will take place on 25th December from 11-12 on the top pitch at their ground in Piltown. All who want to participate are welcome.
