Approximately five acres of land that had been lying idle behind Coláiste na hInse in Laytown is to be made available to Coláiste na hInse, Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa and Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh for use as a sports ground.
The development, which was revealed by Sports Minister and Meath East TD, Thomas Byrne, comes about following talks between his Department and the Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB).
Following extensive talks, the Department of Education decided to license the land at Laytown to the LMETB and an agreement was reached to convert the space for the creation of playing facilities and that the space will also be available to the wider community
“After six months of talks with the Department of Education, I’m thrilled to reveal the land lying idle behind the temporary building of Coláiste na hInse will be handed over to the LMETB” said Minister Byrne.
“It’s essential this space is converted into playing facilities for the benefit of all local schools.
“This is fantastic news for Laytown in what will be a big job to get the land ready but I know the ETB is up to the challenge.”
