Uisce Éireann crews are currently working to repair a major water main burst in Ardee that is affecting the local supply.
James O’Hagan of Uisce Éireann has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” he said.
Repairs are expected to be completed by 6pm this evening. Following the repair, it will typically take two to three hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all affected customers.
However, those on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience a slightly longer delay as the system recharges.
To ensure the safety of both crews and the public, traffic management is in place on the N2.
Uisce Éireann also noted that this aging water main has been prioritised for replacement as part of its national Leakage Reduction Programme, with works planned to begin before the end of the year.
Customers can receive real-time updates on the issue by signing up for the free text service with their Eircode at the Uisce Éireann website. Their customer care helpline is also open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
