Tredagh Boxing Academy celebrates record-breaking success at Louth Open Championships

Tredagh Boxing Academy enjoyed its most successful Louth Open Boxing Championships to date following a standout week in Dundalk.

The championships, which attracted a record entry of more than 500 boxers from across Leinster, Connacht and the north of Ireland, were staged over seven days at O’Hanlon Park Boxing Club. Tredagh entered 20 boxers across a wide range of age groups and divisions and came away with an impressive haul of titles and medals.

Across the competition, the Drogheda club secured 10 Louth Open titles along with three additional walkover victories. Several boxers also picked up silver medals after reaching their respective finals, underlining the overall depth of performance from the club throughout the week.

Among the title winners were Sasha Donica, James Hackett, Cian Smyth, Cara Evans, Ceejay Sheelan, Darragh Smyth, Andrew Mathews, Kailin Morris, Charlie Flanagan and Conan McCormack. Cara Evans capped off an outstanding championship by being named Overall Best Female Boxer, an award presented by the Louth Boxing Board chairman. It marked her third consecutive Louth Open title.

The club also highlighted strong performances from a number of younger and developing boxers, including several competing in their first championships or stepping up weight divisions to gain experience. A number of fighters narrowly missed out on gold but returned home with silver medals after competitive finals.

Tredagh Boxing Academy said the results reflect months of hard work and dedication from boxers, coaches and parents alike. Special mention was also made of club members who were unable to compete due to illness, as well as those who progressed through walkovers.

With multiple titles added to recent successes at national and international competitions, the championships marked a major milestone for the club. Tredagh Boxing Academy continues to offer boxing classes for children from four years of age through to adults, along with boxercise classes for the public.
