Students at St Mary’s Diocesan school have over the years developed a well-oiled machine for collecting funds for community organisations and charities and in the process the boys will hopefully develop a sense of values which encompasses the needs of others.
They’re not that long back at school but already the St. Mary’s DS boys have swung into action and thanks are due to everyone who contributed to a special non-uniform day collection on Thursday April 29th.
Yet again the St. Marys DS Community have surpassed all expectations with over €1500 raised to be shared between Pieta house and The Irish society for Autism thanks to some very generous donations.
“Thanks in particular to Transition Years Jon Canning, Conor Lumsden, Hugh Sowray and James McGarvey who were in school before 8 ready to go” said teacher Edel Tumelty.
“They collected and counted every penny and are a credit to the school and themselves. Thanks also to Ms Kearney for organising it all.”
