Senator Keogan slams 13-year wait for child psychology appointments

Senator Sharon Geogan is demanding that a full time child psychologist is provided for the East Meath and Duleek areas as a matter of urgency.

She has vowed that this will be one of her top priorities going forward.

The Duleek based Senator was highly critical of the disclosure yesterday that children around the country are waiting 13 years on average to get to see a primary care psychologist.

She said: “This is why The Feel Good Project was set up in2019 and why Timeless Pieces was started to support local mental health services in our local area for children from 12 to fifteen years olds.

“I’m only tipping at the surface in what I can do, what we really need is a full time psychologist here in Duleek, five days a week. We do it ourselves or our youth pay a heavy price.

” Next year we can all play our part as I’m going to go on a fundraising initiative to raise that money needed to get this service.. It is a crying shame we have to do it but unfortunately it has to be done.

” The Keogan team political pathway is so much more than your normal politics. Our youth and our communities are so important to us, so help us to help our people.”
