The Drogheda Women and Children’s Refuge (DWCR) has launched its annual Christmas Campaign, generously supported by the Rotary Club of Drogheda.
This support helps address the rising demand for refuge and support services for women and children affected by coercive control and domestic abuse, especially during the Christmas season and into the New Year.
DWCR, which provides 24/7 support, faces a significant surge in demand during the holidays. Susan Keogh, CEO of DWCR, expressed her gratitude for the Rotary Club’s support:
“The Rotary Club understands our plight, and their generous donation will enable us to continue supporting women and children in urgent need. Christmas is meant to be a time of joy and togetherness, but for many, it’s a season of intensified challenges. This donation will allow us to extend critical support as demand increases.”
Seamus Daly, President of the Rotary Club Drogheda, said, “Providing this donation and supporting Drogheda Women and Children’s Refuge fits perfectly with our commitment to fostering peace and community well-being. It’s a privilege to support a cause that makes a direct, positive impact on vulnerable families in our community.”
DWCR’s Christmas Campaign invites the community to help women and children escaping domestic violence by donating warm clothing, shopping vouchers for mothers, and financial contributions to assist with emergency costs for families during this period.
These donations are essential to helping DWCR empower women in rebuilding their lives and giving children a sense of stability and security.
