Repair work completed on river bank at King Williams Glen

Louth County Council has completed repair work to the river bank at King Williams Glen. A section of the bank had deteriorated rapidly over the last couple of years and had been blocked off with bollards by the Council.

Drogheda Rural Independent Councillor Declan Power raised concerns about the deteriorated bank for over 18 months and the health and safety implications for those that use this road.

“I want to thank and commend the work that Louth County Council have done at the river bank at King Williams Glen” Cllr. Power said.

“For the last 18 months, I have liaised with LCC engineers to provide the best solution for this bank which has now been secured with gabions and also the river cleared in the process.

“This was a serious health and safety hazard for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers that use this road due to its location.

“In addition, this area is part of our tourism trail, is linked to the Boyne Camino Walk and is surrounded by history and wonderful nature.

“We must maintain and preserve these amenities as best we can from an environmental, historical, holistic and safe way for all to use and enjoy.”
