Relief for Beaulieu Banks Buyers: Uisce Éireann to Connect Water Mid-August After Severe Delays

Uisce Eireann has confirmed that water will be switched on for the new Beaulieu Banks estate in Drogheda in mid-August.

The news will come as a relief to over 20 buyers who can’t move into their new homes because of the water connection delay.

The issue was raised by the Mayor of Drogheda Councillor Michelle Hall at a recent meeting of Louth County Council.

The Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Service Thomas McEvoy said he had been in contact with Irish Water and unfortunately there can be delays from time to time.

However the company had assured him each householder would be connected.

In a statement issued by Irish Water now called Uisce Eireann estimated a date for turning the water on.

It said: “Uisce Eireann is progressing the drinking water connections to the Drogheda development , Beaulieu Banks.

“These connections are scheduled for mid-August 2025 as per standard delivery. GMC Utilities Group Ltd are carrying out the connections on our behalf.”

Many of the frustrated buyers are renting other properties or living with their parents.

Some were due to move into their new houses in April and others in June.

Most have had their snag list completed by the builder and are all ready to close the deal.

A number have had to re-negotiate their mortgage approval because of the delay.

The three and four bed semi-detached houses at Beaulieu Banks on the Termonfeckin Road have been selling quickly with some fetching a price of €400,000 plus.
