When lifelong fitness professional Breda Harris first stepped onto a reformer Pilates machine two years ago, she instantly knew she had found something special. “The very first class I did, I fell in love with it instantly,” she says. “I knew there and then that I wanted to qualify and open my own studio.”
Fast forward to September 1st, 2025, and that vision became reality when Breda, together with her partner Graham Keely, opened Reformlab Drogheda — the town’s first ever dedicated reformer Pilates studio. Both originally from Dublin but living in Meath for over 20 years, the pair saw a growing appetite for high-quality, low-impact fitness options in the North East.
“We wanted to create a beautifully designed space where people in Drogheda could experience the real benefits of reformer Pilates without having to travel further afield,” Breda explains. “But beyond that, we wanted it to be a community — somewhere people feel comfortable, supported, and motivated.”
A Modern Take on Movement
Reformer Pilates is quite different from the mat-based Pilates many people might be familiar with. It uses a bed-like machine fitted with springs and pulleys to add adjustable resistance, creating a workout that’s challenging, dynamic, and full-body — yet gentle on the joints.
“It’s amazing how much it works the entire body while feeling so controlled,” Breda says. “It strengthens, tones, improves balance, and enhances flexibility all at once. People often tell us they feel muscles they didn’t even know they had — but in the best way possible!”
Classes at Reformlab are intentionally small, ensuring that every client gets individual attention and can progress safely and confidently. “The reformer can look intimidating at first,” Breda admits, “but within minutes people realise how supportive it is. We make sure every single person feels at ease, no matter their fitness level.”
Designed for Every Body
One of the key benefits of reformer Pilates is its adaptability. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced athlete, the resistance can be adjusted to suit your needs. “We have clients in their early twenties right through to their seventies,” says Graham. “Some come for strength and toning, others for rehabilitation, stress relief, or simply to take an hour for themselves.”
Clients often notice results quickly — stronger cores, improved posture, and greater flexibility are the most common. “We’ve seen people gain confidence in their bodies again,” Breda notes. “One client told us they hadn’t felt this mobile or pain-free in years after struggling with a recurring back issue. That kind of feedback reminds us exactly why we started this.”
For many, the benefits go far beyond the physical. “We see clients who are recovering from injury, surgery, or grief,” Breda adds. “For them, it’s not just exercise — it’s a safe, calm space to rebuild strength and focus on self-care.”
A Community That’s Growing Fast
In just a short time, Reformlab Drogheda has already built a loyal following. “The response has been incredible,” says Graham. “We’ve been blown away by the support — people have really embraced what we’re doing. There’s a real buzz around the studio, and friendships are already forming between clients.”
The studio atmosphere strikes a balance between focus and fun — uplifting music, expert guidance, and an encouraging community make each class something to look forward to. “We’ve worked hard to make Reformlab a place people feel proud to be part of,” Breda says. “It’s about progress, not perfection.”
Accessible and Easy to Join
Booking a class is simple and flexible. All sessions are managed through the LegitFit app, where clients can choose single sessions or discounted class bundles — with no long-term membership commitment required. “Everyone has control over their own bookings,” Graham explains. “You can cancel or reschedule with ease, which makes it really convenient.”
At present, the studio focuses on small group sessions, but plans are already underway to expand its offerings. “We’ve just launched a men-only class, which has been a huge success,” Breda says. “Next, we’re looking at introducing pre- and post-natal classes before Christmas, and then gradually expanding to more dynamic levels as our community grows.”
Looking Ahead
With Reformlab Drogheda off to such a strong start, Breda and Graham are focused on maintaining the same quality, warmth, and personal connection that have already become the studio’s hallmark. “We want to keep evolving organically,” says Breda. “Our goal is to make Reformlab a space people genuinely look forward to — somewhere that feels like part of their lifestyle, not just their workout routine.”
There’s even talk of opening a second studio next year, but for now, the duo are focused on strengthening their foundations in Drogheda.
For those who are curious but hesitant, Breda has one message: “Just try one class. Everyone feels a bit unsure at first, but the reformer meets you where you are. Most people leave their first class saying, ‘I wish I’d started sooner.’”
