Consultation will help shape and inform design
Louth County Council is seeking the public’s opinion on how they would like to see the regeneration of the Westgate area of Drogheda progress.
They have announced the start of an early consultation process regarding the project which is the first stage of the Westgate Vision, launched by Louth County Council in 2018, which is aimed at channelling investment into this core area.
A key objective of the project is to prepare an application for funding under the Urban Regeneration Development Fund.
As part of this process, Louth County Council is inviting interested parties, including residents, retailers, institutions, and businesses as well as community and sporting groups, to get involved in the process and express their views and aspirations for the area to help shape and inform design proposals.
To facilitate this engagement, Louth County Council has launched an online survey at www.westgatevision.ie which will remain open until 5.00 pm on Friday, 4th June 2021.
This initial consultation is part of the brief in place for Turley, the planning and development company that is working with the council on preparation of proposals which the Council will use as part of their application for funding under the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund.
The community consultation, provides an opportunity for the Drogheda community to have their say on what will help recover the streetscape and provide high quality public spaces that will transform Westgate and act as a catalyst for positive regeneration of the area in the broader town centre.
An information event is also to be be held at 6pm on Tuesday, 20th July 2021 to discuss the project. Considering current public health restrictions, due to COVID -19, this session will take place digitally, via Zoom.
