Independent Councillor, Declan Power, is calling on Louth Co. Council to repair and activate three electronic road signs along the Baltray road in Termonfeckin.
“Our recent efforts at Scoil Naomh Feichín to improve road safety have been commendable” he said.
“Now, it’s time to further bolster these measures by fixing and reactivating the long-neglected electronic road signs adjacent to the school.”.
“These signs, powered by both battery and solar power, have been out of commission for far too long.
“Their restoration will make a significant difference in enhancing safety, particularly with two flashing beacon signs and one speed reduction sign near the school, crucial for alerting drivers to exercise caution.”
Simultaneously, the Naomh Feichín Parents Council has launched a ‘Walking Bus’ initiative this week, aiming to increase the number of students walking to school under parental supervision.
“The ‘Walking Bus’ is a brilliant concept, promoting walking and reducing car dependency. I commend the Parents Council for their innovative approach,” Cllr. Power added.
“It’s been a pleasure collaborating with them and though piloted in one area, it is hoped that is can be wide spread across the village.”
