Helping Hands, Helping Communities, Duleek will hold their third Month of October 1,000Kms Team Challenge beginning on 1st October.
There are three categories from which participants can choose to complete during the month – 50km walk, 50km run or 100km cycle.
Proceeds will go towards purchasing vital supplies for the ever growing number of homeless along with donating to voluntary charities in the local community.
Last year’s event raised funds for Duleek Senior Citizens, Duleek Meals On Wheels, Drogheda Cares For The Homeless, Drogheda Women’s and Children’s Refuge, Stamullen Nursing Home along with voluntary homeless organisations for whom large volume of tents, sleeping bags and other vital supplies were purchased.
“It is very important to remember none of this could be possible without the support of local businesses and the generosity of people from the locality and further afield” said spokesperson Thomas Lynch.
“And without volunteers participating in the team challenge who got sponsors on their sponsorship cards the event could not have been a success.
“Presently we have thirteen businesses on board sponsoring this year’s team challenge and we have currently sixteen participants willing to brave what the month of October weather will throw at us and all for a great cause.
