Over €300,000 awarded for Duleek River Walk project

Duleek is set to benefit from significant investment following the announcement of funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. Meath County Council has been awarded €300,000 to develop a new linear river walk in the village.

The funding, announced by the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, will support a project aimed at linking three existing green areas in Duleek while highlighting key local attractions. The development is expected to enhance the village’s public amenities and provide a boost to recreation and tourism in the area.

The Town and Village Renewal Scheme, which was established in 2016, supports projects designed to rejuvenate town and village centres, drive economic growth, tackle dereliction, and improve outdoor public spaces.

An Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council, Cllr Wayne Harding, welcomed the funding, describing it as an important investment that will help revitalise communities across the county.

Chief Executive of Meath County Council, Kieran Kehoe, said the funding aligns closely with the council’s wider focus on improving infrastructure, public spaces, and economic opportunities for towns and villages throughout Meath.
