Uisce Éireann is planning a water outage for Drogheda town and surrounding areas tonight, Monday, 25th August, from 10 pm to 6 am tomorrow, to repair a major burst on a trunk water main.

The burst has been located at the junction of Donore Road and George’s Street. To minimise disruption for businesses and residents, the emergency works will be carried out overnight.

The outage will affect approximately 2,000 customers in a number of areas, including:

  • Drogheda town centre

  • West Street

  • Wellington Quay

  • Dominick Street

  • Stockwell Street

  • Dyer Street

  • Shop Street

  • St Laurence Street

  • Marsh Road

  • North Quay

  • Cord Road

  • Greenhills

  • Newfoundwell Road

  • Termonabbey

  • Ashton Village

  • Newtownstalaban

  • Baltray

  • Termonfeckin village and surrounding areas.

Traffic management will be in place at the junction from 8 pm to ensure the safety of the public and the crew.

According to Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan, crews will work as quickly as possible to restore normal supply. He noted that it typically takes two to three hours for supply to return to all customers after repairs are completed, but it may take longer for those on higher ground.
