Nugent asks for town service bus stops to be relocated to bus depot

Local election hopeful Peter James Nugent has asked Louth County Council, Bus Eireann, and Transport for Ireland to consider moving the bus stops that are currently on the dual carriageway into the bus depot for the safety of passengers.

“Rathmullan Road, the busiest road in Drogheda, houses a highly frequented bus stop that serves a significant number of passengers” Mr. Nugent said.

“Unfortunately, this can lead to delays and instances of cars illegally overtaking the bus while passengers are boarding.

“In light of this, I propose that the bus stop be relocated to the bus station in order to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and motorists.

“I have reached out to Louth County Council, Bus Eireann, and Transport for “Ireland for their expert opinion and recommendations on a suitable alternative location for the bus stop.

“I am requesting for the installation of additional bus shelters in Drogheda, particularly at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. It is necessary to have both shelter and seating available at this location.

“As a next step, I will inquire about the budget allocated by NTI and Bus Eireann for this purpose.”
