New award to recognise Community cleanup efforts in Drogheda

Drogheda Tidy Towns is launching a new award to recognise the people and groups who help keep the town clean throughout the year.

The Clean and Litter Free Community Recognition Award will give residents the chance to nominate individuals or local groups who go the extra mile to improve their area.

In a post on social media, Drogheda Tidy Towns said it wanted to highlight the often unseen work carried out by volunteers across the town.

It said: “From early morning litter picks to ongoing care of shared spaces, so many individuals and residents’ groups make a real difference every day and we think that deserves recognition.

“Do you know someone who goes the extra mile to keep the area clean and welcoming? Nominate them and help us shine a light on their efforts.”

Nominations are open until April 19, with people invited to submit their suggestions by message or email.

The group said the award is about recognising community effort rather than competition.
