The Boyne Valley Camino walk is making national headlines.
The 25k pilgrims trek got a rave review by reporter Katie Byrne in a fantastic piece in the Irish times.
She told how her walk along historic sites around the locality from Mellifont Abbey to the Battle of the Boyne site at Oldbridge, through wonderful woodland and country roads, was an amazing adventure.
The walk started and finished at St Peter’s Church in West Street and she was accompanied for the first few miles by one of the Drogheda Camino founders Dusty Flanagan of Boyne Valley Trails.
The Drogheda Camino is linked to the A Coruna 100km Camino in Spain and Katie was amazed how you pick up your Camino stamps along the local route.
If you love walking tickets are now available for the Boyne Camino Guided Experience on September 20 next and they can be purchased on boynevalleytrails.ie.
Journalist Kate said the Camino route through Louth and Meath followed in the footsteps of Ireland’s medieval pilgrims was a 25km journey into history.
