More great results for Boyne AC at Louth Championships

The Athletics Louth Track and Field Championships programme continues apace, with day four taking place recently.

It was nother great day of action in Bush, near Carlingford, which saw the under 12 age groups from all over the county compete across a variety of events.

Boyne AC were well represented by five talented athletes who all gave superb performances on the day.

Dara Winters Schiopu made two trips to the winner’s podium with a silver in the Turbo Javelin followed by a super win in the 600m distance race.

A very tactical run by this impressive athlete saw her boxed in somewhat at the start, but by the 400m mark she was able to pull clear of the field, winning by a clear margin to take the Louth title.

Meanwhile, Vadim Krasnakov was unlucky to just miss out on a medal place, finishing fourth in both his 60m and 600m races.

There were great efforts also from Wannita McCabe, Bonnie Hegarty and Melanie Brokane in all their events.

The final day of the championships will place this weekend, with Boyne AC once again set to field a strong group of competitors, with the turn of the younger age groups from under 9 to under 11.

Young Boyne AC stars Bonnie Hegarty , Dara Winters Schiopu, Wannita McCabe, Melanie Brokane and Vadim Krasnakov.
