Local Fianna Fáil Councillor for Drogheda and East Meath, Stephen McKee, has welcomed the launch of the new Indaver Grant Scheme for 2026 and is encouraging local clubs and organisations to apply for funding.
Councillor McKee said the scheme is now open to applications from groups across East Meath, with the closing date for submissions set for Friday, 23 January 2026.
Under the scheme, a levy is charged for every tonne of waste accepted at the Indaver Waste-to-Energy facility. The fund is managed by the Community Liaison Committee, of which McKee is a member, and provides financial support to community-based clubs and voluntary organisations for local projects and initiatives.
McKee highlighted the impact of the scheme in the area, citing the new Duleek Bellewstown Community Facility as an example of a successful project supported by the funding. Local sports clubs, including St Mary’s Donore, St Colmcille’s GFC, Eastern Gaels, and Duleek AFC, have also benefited, using the grants to carry out important works in their communities.
He added that the scheme continues to support many local groups each year and encourages clubs and organisations to apply.
“Local voluntary groups make a huge contribution to our communities. I will continue to work hard on behalf of all our local organisations and I encourage applications to be submitted under this year’s scheme,” McKee said.
