Louth residents are being invited to attend a free information event to learn how they can access fast medical treatment in Northern Ireland with full reimbursement from the HSE.
The event is being hosted by Kingsbridge Private Hospital and will take place at the Boyne Valley Hotel in Drogheda on Tuesday, 10 February, from 4pm to 8pm. Members of the public can attend to find out how to access world class healthcare without long waiting lists. Anyone wishing to attend can register by emailing businessrelations@kingsbridgehealthcaregroup.com.
Through the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme, patients living in the Republic of Ireland can receive approved medical treatment in Northern Ireland and claim 100 per cent reimbursement from the HSE. Procedures covered under the scheme include hip and knee replacements, ACL repairs, gallbladder removals, hysterectomies and other surgeries.
Patients do not need to be on an existing waiting list to apply for the scheme and can access it once they have a referral from a GP or consultant.
New research commissioned by Kingsbridge has found that more than three quarters of Louth residents are unaware of the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme, meaning many may be missing out on faster access to treatment just a short distance away.
Chief executive of Kingsbridge Healthcare Group Mark Regan said the findings point to a significant lack of awareness around cross border healthcare options. He said that with waiting lists remaining a major issue in the Republic, it is important that people in Louth know they can access high quality care quickly and have the full cost reimbursed by the HSE, adding that the scheme has been life changing for many families.
Kingsbridge Private Hospital operates facilities in Belfast and Derry, offering services across orthopaedics, diagnostics, urology, ENT and general surgery. Patients are supported throughout the process by Kingsbridge’s One2One Cross Border Liaison Team, which assists with paperwork and reimbursement applications.
Since 2015, more than 25,000 patients from Ireland have accessed treatment through Kingsbridge. Further information is available at kingsbridgeprivatehospital.com or by calling 01 968 2000 or emailing crossborder@kingsbridgehealthcaregroup.com.
