Couples planning their big day had a chance to meet some of Drogheda’s leading wedding suppliers when The Wedding Edit took place in the Frilly Frocks Boutique on March 6.
The event was organised by two well known local wedding businesses, Made With Love and Frilly Frocks Bridal, who came together to create a space where couples could meet suppliers face to face and explore local wedding services in one place.
The organisers said the idea came from seeing a gap locally.
We are two Drogheda based wedding businesses and felt there was a gap in the market to support and showcase local wedding suppliers. There are plenty of wedding shows in Dublin and local hotels etc but nothing in the town itself.
They said bringing together local suppliers was an important part of the idea behind the event.
Again to support the local businesses and showcase what we all have to offer at one event.
For couples starting the wedding planning process, the organisers believe meeting suppliers in person still matters.
We think this is crucial. So much is obviously done online in wedding planning but considering it’s the most important day of your life we think it’s so important to have a good relationship with your suppliers and trust them.
The success of the first event means it may not be the last.
No this will absolutely be running this event again, we are deciding on another date for later this year as it was such a success.
Both organisers also shared a little about their own businesses and the services they provide to couples across the region.
Made With Love specialises in faux floral wedding décor and arrangements.

Made With Love is a faux floral wedding business and we provide florals and décor for all aspects of the wedding ceremony and reception as well as personal flowers for the whole bridal party. We have been in business since 2017 so we are almost celebrating our 10 year anniversary and we are a mother and daughter business and pride ourselves on this personal family approach, from our family to yours.
Frilly Frocks Bridal has been part of the Drogheda wedding scene for many years and recently marked a major milestone.

Frilly Frocks Bridal in the heart of Drogheda is now celebrating its 17th year in business. Our spacious boutique is home to a carefully curated collection of wedding dresses and accessories from leading international bridal brands. We provide an excellent bridal styling service in a private and luxurious setting. Our Brides have travelled from far and wide for our expertise and service, we currently have samples from sizes 8 to 22 and plenty in between.
The team are also seeing some interesting new trends as they select upcoming collections.
Frilly Frocks are in the middle of buying season, where we visit our suppliers to choose from their new collections, we are seeing lots of detachable skirts and sleeves as well as the hugely popular trend of corset bodices and a huge return to lace.
For couples at the very start of planning their wedding, the organisers say taking time to research suppliers is key.
Obviously do your research on suppliers in advance and read lots of reviews. Chat to them in person, either face to face or by phone rather than just over email. Find someone you feel completely comfortable with, it’s such an important day and you are spending a lot of money on the day.
Working with local suppliers can also bring practical benefits.
They could be recommendations from family and friends which can be very reassuring when making decisions. Your suppliers will probably have worked at the venue previously or worked with other suppliers involved with your wedding also which can be great.
At Made With Love, many couples have similar questions when it comes to planning their wedding flowers.
For Made With Love in relation to flowers we get asked a lot about who in the bridal party should get flowers eg. Buttonholes for the dads, grandads etc. And we also get asked a lot if the florals are for rental or for purchase. So we offer rental only for decor at the venues, churches or ceremonies and then all personal flowers are for purchase, so a forever memory of the day. We also get asked a lot what the time frame is for booking our services, ideally a year in advance minimum but some peak dates get booked up more than 12 months in advance.
Following the success of the first Wedding Edit, the organisers say they are already planning another event later this year to continue showcasing Drogheda’s growing network of local wedding suppliers.
