Drogheda Creative Writers and the Just Write! poetry group are inviting people to join them at Highlanes Gallery later this month for a special Poetry Day Ireland event celebrating local creativity and spoken word.
The event takes place on May 28 from 3pm to 4.30pm and forms part of the all island Poetry Day Ireland celebrations.
This year’s national theme is “Home”, inspired by Poetry Ireland’s return to 11 Parnell Square, its new home in Dublin. Organisers say the theme encourages people to reflect on the meaning of home and its importance in modern life.
Guests attending the Drogheda event can look forward to readings from local poets as members of both groups showcase their work in the surroundings of Highlanes Gallery.
Refreshments will also be served during the afternoon, giving visitors the chance to relax, listen and enjoy an afternoon of poetry and conversation.
Organisers say everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the celebration of local writing and creativity.
