Local Design Company’s Christmas gesture transforms Drogheda Homeless Aid Hostel

A Christmas gesture by a local interior design company has made a significant difference to comfort levels at the Drogheda Homeless Aid hostel.

The 27 bed hostel at North Strand, Drogheda, along with six transitional houses, provides round the clock services throughout the year for people experiencing homelessness across Counties Louth and Meath. While the facility is fully operational and maintained to high standards by staff and CE workers, it had become in need of refurbishment.

Louth based Hamilton Interior Design stepped in and offered to carry out a complete makeover of the building. Residents played their part by painting individual rooms, while the Hamilton design team provided furniture, soft furnishings, curtains and bed linen throughout the hostel, from the upper floors to the ground level. The company has also committed to monitoring future needs at the facility.

Members of the Hamilton family visited the hostel shortly before Christmas, where they received thanks from residents, staff and board members of Drogheda Homeless Aid.

Chairperson of Homeless Aid, Paul Murphy, said everyone at the hostel was deeply appreciative of the gesture. He noted that all design services and furnishings were provided free of charge and described the commitment from the Tinure, Dunleer based company as outstanding. He added that the organisation was delighted to welcome members of the Hamilton family to the hostel, where they were shown around by Operations Manager Mandie Walsh.
