The lifetime collection of well-known Meath publican, hotelier and businessman Gerry Brady is set to attract strong interest from collectors and interior designers, as the contents of his family home in Trim go under the hammer.
The auction will feature the contents of St Martin’s, Trim, comprising more than 500 items gathered over a 60-year period. The collection includes furniture, artwork, porcelain, glassware and pub memorabilia, with an overall value estimated in excess of €100,000. All items will be sold in a single evening.
The auction is being curated and hosted by renowned auctioneer Niall Mullen and will take place online only on Tuesday, January 27, through Easylive Auction under the Gormley Art Auctions section.
Public viewing of the contents will be available at St Martin’s from January 23 to January 27, offering bidders and enthusiasts the opportunity to view the collection in person ahead of the sale.
Gerry Brady was a prominent figure in the hospitality trade across Meath and Louth. His business interests included some of Drogheda’s most recognisable venues, such as The Weavers and The Pheasant pubs, as well as the Wellington Court Hotel in Trim and the Leinster Arms in Maynooth. The Brady family has retained ownership of a number of flagship hospitality premises across the region.
The contents of the family home reflect a lifelong passion for antiques and collectibles, built up through years of attending Irish auctions with his late wife, Phyllis. Together, they curated a home filled with carefully selected pieces reflecting both quality and character.
The furniture collection spans several design eras, with standout examples from the Victorian, Edwardian and Regency periods, as well as later Art Nouveau pieces. The variety and provenance of the items are expected to appeal to a broad audience, from serious collectors to those seeking distinctive statement pieces for contemporary interiors.
Among the highlights of the auction is a crouching marble statue of Venus from Humewood Castle, formerly home to the Hume family. Another notable item is an oak jockey scale by Youngs of London, originally from Headford House in Kells.
Bidding will begin at 5pm on Tuesday, January 27.
