Grace Keogh Carer of the Year recognition has celebrated 17 years of dedicated work by the Drogheda woman supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Grace joined Irish HomeCare in 2009 and has spent almost two decades providing in-home support to individuals and their families.

Irish HomeCare said she was recognised not only for the care she provides directly to clients, but also for the support she gives to their families.

Her work includes helping families access respite while supporting clients to develop greater independence and work towards their own goals.

Supporting independence and families

The Grace Keogh Carer of the Year award also recognises her role as a mentor and trainer within Irish HomeCare.

Grace specialises in supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

According to Irish HomeCare, colleagues and families have highlighted her ability to create a calm and safe environment while respecting the role and experiences of each family.

She has also become an experienced mentor within the organisation, helping to train new carers and supporting colleagues dealing with complex situations.

Irish HomeCare said her approach centres on encouraging the people she supports to develop skills, confidence and greater independence.

‘She changes lives’

Teresa Boylan-McNally, CEO of Irish HomeCare, said Grace’s award reflected the impact she has had over the past 17 years.

“These simple yet profound moments perfectly reflect the genuine care, deeply ingrained personal values, and connection she brings to her work every day,” she said.

“She does not just provide care; she changes lives.”
