Gardaí are investigating two separate incidents in Louth over the weekend and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Emergency services attended a serious two-car collision on the R132 at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, at around 8:10pm on Saturday, 6th December.
The female driver of one car, aged in her late 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries. An infant boy who was travelling in the same car was transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The driver and teenage passenger of the second vehicle were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out a full technical examination at the scene.
Gardaí are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage from the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7:50pm and 8:20pm, to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
Separately, Gardaí are investigating an assault on a female motorist at Drumcar Road, Dunleer, on Sunday evening, 7th December. The woman had stopped at the roadside at around 6:40pm when another car pulled in and two men assaulted her. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses, or anyone who may have seen a light-coloured 171-D-registered saloon vehicle in the area between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, are asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 6871130, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda station. Dash-cam footage from the area may also assist the investigation.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
