HSE Dublin and North East is holding a series of free walk in clinics offering the children’s nasal flu vaccine in North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Cavan. The clinics aim to make it easier for families to access vaccination during the busy festive period.
The nasal flu vaccine, also known as the Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine, is a quick and painless spray administered into each nostril. It provides effective protection against flu for children aged between 2 and 17 years.
Dr Paul Mullane, Consultant in Public Health Medicine, said flu can be extremely serious for children and can spread easily within families and communities, particularly during large gatherings. He said the free walk in clinics give parents a convenient opportunity to protect their children with the nasal flu vaccine and help reduce the spread of flu during the festive season.
