Four Leinster Champions for Tredagh boxing academy

Tredagh Boxing Academy enjoyed a hugely successful outing at the recent Leinster Michael Andrews Championships in Athy, Co. Kildare, entering five athletes and returning home with four provincial titles along with further recognition for the club.

The championships saw strong representation from the Drogheda club, with Andrew Mathews and Charlie Flanagan both progressing through to their respective finals and securing Leinster Michael Andrews Champion 2025 titles. Their victories capped off an excellent campaign for the pair, who continue to impress at provincial level.

There was further good news for the academy as Adam Walsh and Michael James McDonagh were also crowned champions in their divisions following opponent withdrawals on finals day. Both boxers had prepared extensively for the event, and their titles added to the club’s overall medal haul.

Novice boxer Jamie Campbell also gained valuable championship experience, earning praise for a strong showing against a highly decorated opponent. His performance led to an invitation to box for the Leinster Development Squad the following week in Edenderry, an exceptional achievement for a young athlete still early in his competitive journey.

The club also celebrated progress outside the ring, with coaches Padraig McCullough, Nicola Newman, Ronan Walsh, Darren Campbell, and Chris Sheelan successfully completing the IABA Coaches Professional Bandaging & Cutsman Course, strengthening the academy’s coaching and athlete-support structures.

In addition to the championship success, Tredagh Boxing Academy athletes recorded further victories in the Dublin Leagues at the National Stadium, with wins for Jamie Campbell, Alexandre Donica, Adam Walsh, and Ceejay Sheelan, highlighting the depth of talent across the squad.

With continued medal success, developing boxers, and ongoing coach education, Tredagh Boxing Academy continues to build its reputation as one of the region’s leading centres of boxing excellence.

The club is currently welcoming new members across all age groups, offering programmes for:
