European Commissioner officially opens Louth Local Development’s new offices

European Commissioner Mairead McGuinness was in Drogheda on Friday last to officially open Louth Local Development’s new offices at the Haymarket, Drogheda and to launch their Statement of Strategy for the next few years.

The development of this premises is a long-term commitment to the people of Drogheda and its environs. It provides staff with a much improved workplace and greatly improved facilities for organisation availing of their services.

It represents a significant investment in the local community where Louth Local Development provide a range of important services including:

  • Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme
  • Local Area Employment Service
  • Rural Development Programme (LEADER)
  • Tús employment support programme
  • Louth ABC child poverty programme

 

Welcoming the investment in Drogheda Ms McGuinness, (her full title is European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Union) said:

 “This office provides a whole range of services from early childhood support through to employment support. The excellent facilities are also available to local community organisations. It is good to see coordination of services and a focus on individual needs.”

The Vice Chairperson of Louth Local Development, Cllr Emma Coffey, thanked the Commissioner for her attendance and also welcomed the launch of the Statement of Strategy which outlines Louth Local Development’s vision and aims for the next number of years including setting out clear goals and objectives towards achieving the delivery of services to communities and individuals in Co. Louth.
