Emmet to cycle across Ireland to raise funds for seriously ill children

This day next week Drogheda man Emmet Quinn will be heading West on his bicycle to raise funds for the children’s charity Barretstown.

On Thursday next, August 19th, Emmet will saddle up and set out from Wicklow Head, Ireland’s most Easterly point and head for Dunmore Head on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry which is the country’s westernmost point.

Between East and West is a distance of 393 Kilometres which Emmet is hoping to cover in two days.

The marathon cycle across the country is all in aid of Barretstown, a children’s charity which runs residential camps for children with serious illnesses such as cancer.

Barretstown offers specially designed camps and programmes for children and their families living with a serious illness – supported behind the scenes by 24 hour on site medical and nursing care.

“They off their services free of charge so they depend on fund raisers like this, to continue giving children family memories, fun camps and constant care” Emmet said.

“The past year has seriously impacted their fund raising, and they need all the help they can get.”

Emmet has set up a GoFundMe page and anyone who wishes to donate can do so by CLICKING HERE.
