In rehearsals for their latest recording
Sometimes it’s the children who teach us adults about the truly important things in life and the children of Drogheda’s Loving life Choir have been a beacon of hope for the community from the day they began to sing.
The Loving life Choir is made up of children and teenagers from Moneymore and other “troubled” estates in Drogheda, the places that get the mainstream media’s attention for all the wrong reasons.
Together they have discovered the joy of singing and have learned how to rise above the turmoil that surrounds them in their everyday lives bringing many adults with them on their inspirational journey.
The Loving Life Choir offers a safe, friendly and inclusive environment for children aged 10-18 to find joy in singing together, to draw inspiration from the song lyrics and gain the confidence to perform in public.
They had their performing debut in December 2019 at the Drogheda Christmas Festival and since then they have appeared many time in public and blossomed into a group that is truly inspirational and a credit to themselves, their families and their town.
Last month they sang their hearts out at the Drogheda Town Centre to raise funds for Drogheda Homeless Aid and in May they made a big impression when they sang like angels at the launch of the shared community space at Peter’s Hill.
At the moment they are “incredibly excited” about taking part in pre- recording rehearsals and, under the stewardship of conductor Jade Quinn, are perfecting the anti-bullying song “I Have a Voice” and their own original song, “Another Day”.
We wish them well on their musical journey.
The professional recording of both songs has been made possible through the support of the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal and the Community Foundation for Ireland.
As it says somewhere in the Bible: “Out of the mouths of babes and infants, you have perfected praise, because of your enemies….”
