Supporters asked to try again now problem is sorted
Last week Drogheda Life launched an appeal for readers and others to support the Drogheda Lions Club Christmas Appeal to raise funds to buy food and other Christmas gifts for families in the area that are struggling to cope this Christmas.
Donations started off nicely but then, suddenly, they just stopped. Somehow a glitch had developed in the system which prevented people from donating.
Many readers have generously tried to donate to this very worthy cause but sadly they have been frustrated in their efforts.
Our IT people have worked hard all weekend and have found the problem but it will take too long to repair.
So, not wanting to run out of time and aware that Christmas is coming, we have switched service providers and have set up a Go Fund Me page. So, as of this morning, the appeal is back up and running.
We humbly apologise for the inconvenience caused but we are now asking anyone that has experienced difficulty in donating to do so now.
The link we put out last week, which was kindly shard by supporters on their social media pages, will still work because it has been redirected to the new donation page.
Once again we are asking you to please, please click onto the new donation page – just click the advert in the middle of this page and you’ll be there. If you could also share this page it would be greatly appreciated.
Please remember, this is an effort to give local families something to celebrate this Christmas.
Many of us are feeling annoyed or worried about the current social restrictions and the impact they are having on our social lives and plans for Christmas but many, many families in the Drogheda area are struggling desperately just to stay afloat.
We think they and their children deserve a little Christmas cheer this year of all years.
Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience but we know that the great Drogheda public will understand and respond with the generosity they are renowned for.
