Drogheda Digital Hub officially opens, boosting Innovation and Urban Renewal

Drogheda has taken another step toward becoming a regional leader in digital innovation with the official opening of the Drogheda Digital Hub on 17th December. The launch was marked by a visit from Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, who officially opened the facility.

Located on Narrow West Street, the Hub is designed to energise the town centre by providing a collaborative space for start-ups, remote workers, and growing tech businesses. The project is led by Louth County Council and supported by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment through the Border Enterprise Development Fund, administered by Enterprise Ireland.

The opening event welcomed an impressive group of guests, including Minister Burke, Cllr Seán Kelly, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, local TD Paula Butterly, Thomas McEvoy, Director of Services, and Miriam Simon, the newly appointed President of the Drogheda Chamber of Commerce, alongside local business leaders and community representatives.

Minister Burke highlighted the Hub’s importance for regional growth:
“The Drogheda Digital Hub will provide essential digital services to support SMEs to start and grow in Drogheda, Louth and the wider North-East.”

Cllr Michelle Hall said:
“The Digital Hub is a very welcome addition to Drogheda. It will bring energy and opportunity back into the heart of our town, supporting local businesses and creating a space where creativity and technology meet. This hub will not only support local talent but also attract new investment, helping Drogheda position itself as a key player in the digital economy of the North-East.”

The Drogheda Digital Hub offers over 20 co-working desks, private booths, meeting rooms, event spaces, and modern tech infrastructure, along with mentoring, business supports, and training programmes. Its flagship initiative, Boyne Innovate, serves as a launchpad for start-ups, while recent DigiBytes sessions have provided practical guidance for entrepreneurs in the digital and health sectors.

Programme Manager Fionnuala Rogers encouraged businesses and remote workers to get involved:
“Our goal is to keep Drogheda’s business community at the forefront of digital transformation through training, workshops, and collaboration. Whether you’re building a start-up or need a productive space to work, the Drogheda Digital Hub is here for you.”

More than just a workspace, the Drogheda Digital Hub is a catalyst for urban renewal and economic growth, reinforcing Drogheda’s position as a dynamic centre for innovation.
