Drogheda design agency Bammedia celebrates 20 years in business

A Drogheda creative agency that started around a kitchen table with few clients but plenty of ambition is celebrating 20 years in business this month.

Bammedia, based beside Laurence’s Gate in the heart of Drogheda, was founded in June 2006 by graphic designer Bridget Kerrigan and has gone on to work with businesses and organisations across Ireland while helping shape many well-known local brands.

Reaching two decades in business is a significant milestone, particularly given the challenges businesses have faced over that period, including the recession and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before launching Bammedia, Bridget worked in a number of leading design studios in Dublin. She decided to strike out on her own in 2006, building the business from its earliest days at her kitchen table.

Over the years, Bammedia has grown into an award-winning agency whose work has been recognised both nationally and internationally, including awards from the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) and the European Pentawards.

A familiar name behind many local brands

While the agency has worked with clients across Ireland, many of its projects will be familiar to people in Drogheda and the wider North East.

Its portfolio includes work for businesses and organisations such as The Marcy, Nelly’s, Docked & Navy, Love Drogheda, Meath Made, The Glyde Inn, Aphix Software, The Mill Enterprise Hub and Nest, as well as the former Listoke Gin and Jack Cody’s brands.

Nationally, Bammedia has worked with organisations including The Handmade Soap Company, Inland Fisheries Ireland, Visit Louth, Network Ireland, the National Cyber Security Centre and First Citizen Finance.

Growing while staying small

The business has deliberately remained a small agency, working with an in-house team alongside a network of freelance creatives.

In 2014, Bridget’s husband Cormac joined the company full-time, focusing on web and digital services as well as client management and business development.

Today, Bammedia’s services include brand identity, graphic design, packaging design and website development, along with animation, video production, SEO, illustration and brand naming.

Reflecting on the milestone, Bridget said the business has evolved significantly since it first opened its doors.

“When I started Bammedia in 2006, the design industry and digital landscape was very different to what it is today,” she said.

“Our team will continue to embrace new technologies while staying true to what has always mattered most, being creative, doing things differently and helping businesses make an impact.”

Twenty years on from those early days around the kitchen table, Bammedia continues to work with businesses across the country while remaining firmly rooted in Drogheda.
