The Drogheda Cycling Group has called on Meath County Council to extend the proposed cycle lane between Drogheda Educate Together and Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa to include Drogheda Grammar School and the nearby Le Cheile Educate Together.
The group says the current proposal is welcome but believes it should go further to ensure safer access for students travelling to and from school.
Chairperson Noel Hogan said:
Our Submission to Meath County Council on the proposed extension of the cycle lane outside Drogheda Educate Together to Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa was simple yes this is a good idea, but why not extend it a few hundred more metres to connect to the Grammar School and the nearby Le Cheile Educate Together? Schools should be safe places in every way, lets make it safe for kids to travel to school also.
