Drogheda Brass Band’s virtual Christmas concert

Go Fund me page set up to to make up for financial shortfall of 2021

They had to cancel their annual Christmas concert again this year due to the recent spike in COVID-19 but Drogheda Brass Band has decided the show must go on!

For the second year running, the band will host a virtual event instead, streamed on the band’s Facebook page (search @droghedabrass) from 7pm on Saturday 18th December.

Like all other community and voluntary organisations, the band, went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the cancellation of its entire summer programme of performances that would usually include recitals at Oldbridge, Farmleigh House, the Drogheda Arts Festival and more.

It’s been another strange year for the band. At various stages, they were allowed to rehearse outdoors only at their premises at East Coast Business Park and were finally allowed to get back indoors in the autumn as a group once more.

For its Christmas concert, the band had been busy preparing a festive programme. After the cancellation, it was still able to gather the membership in order to shoot some videos as a group, which have been put together, mixed and produced by band conductor John Carpenter – featuring the band and students from the school of music.

The band is also running a GoFundMe page alongside the concert to try to make up for the financial shortfall of 2021 and would be grateful for any donations big or small.
