DIFE’s Sales Apprenticeship programme welcomes another intake of students

Drogheda Institute of Further Education celebrated the latest intake of sales apprentices to the award-winning Sales Apprenticeship programme this week. This is the second class of apprentices to commence the Sales Apprenticeship programme in the college, following on from the initial intake in January 2024.

These talented sales apprentices hail from a diverse range of sectors including Communications, Construction, Hospitality, ICT, Manufacturing, Media, Motor, Healthcare and Retail. Also present at the launch were employers programme mentors, who will support apprentices over the coming two years.

Jessica Martin, National Programme Manager of the Sales Apprenticeship, commended Drogheda Institute for the work they have carried out to ensure the successful launch of the second iteration of the programme in the region. Ms. Martin also acknowledged the key role that employers play in supporting the development of apprentices and moulding future sales specialists.

That sentiment was echoed by Davy Mc Donnell, Principal of DIFE who wished the new cohort of apprentices’ success as they embark upon their new career journey. Within his address he highlighted “the importance of developing strong salespeople of the future for local and regional employers in the sales sector”.

The programme is an “earn and learn” model, designed to empower the Sales Apprentice with underpinning knowledge, skills and competencies required to become an effective employee in this dynamic sector. It is fully funded with a €4000 employer grant available per apprentice.

The Sales Apprenticeship programme was designed by industry to suit industry needs and is an excellent tool to attract and retain key talent within a business. Employers are successfully using the programme to upskill existing sales staff and to train staff who want to embark on a career in sales.
