DART to Drogheda: Planning Approval Secured for Major Rail Extension

The new DART extension from Malahide to Drogheda has received planning approval.

It will mean the electrification of the track along the 37 Km route and should take three years to complete.
A new platform will also be built at McBride Station,Drogheda as part of the project.
 
The procurement process to award the contracts will begin immediately.
 
The Dart + Coastal North DART as it is called was given the green light by An Coimisiun Pleanala on Thursday last.
 
There will be increased train capacity and frequency between Drogheda and Malahide as a result.
 
irish Rail expects the number of passengers to increase from 4800 to 8800 at peak times every day when the new DART is up and running.
