CSO Figures Reveal €38k Price Gap Between Louth and Meath Homes

The average price of a house in County Louth is €340,000 and €378,000 in Meath.

There is a €38,000 gap in the cost of  homes between the two counties, the latest CSO figures confirm.

The cost of a new home nationally increased by 7.8% in the year to June. It stayed the same in July.

House prices in the greater Dublin area also increased by over 6% in the first half of the year – this continues to fuel an exodus from the capital to both Louth and Meath.

The CSO says the average price of a house in Drogheda is €370,000, in Dundalk it’s €330,000 and Navan is €359,999.

The West of Ireland is now the fastest growing area outside of Dublin in terms of property values rising. There was an average increase of over 10% in Mayo, Galway and Roscommon.

But many homes there in rural areas are way cheaper than the North East.

More and more families are looking to live and work in the West attracted by value for money and better lifestyles.

The massively improved broadband network also means they can work from home.
