Contestants sought for lipsync battle for Women’s and Children’s Refuge

Tina Turner impersonator Brian Howard is seeking contestants for a Lipsync Battle which is to take place in November in McHugh’s Venue to raise funds for Drogheda Women’s and Children’s Refuge.

Since the age of three Brian has been a massive fan of the late great Tina Turner, as a child he was always giving impromptu performances to anyone who would listen.

In 2011 he was encouraged to enter a local talent competition where he did an impersonation of the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” which was so good it won the top prize and unleashed a beautiful force of nature into the world.

Brian, who is originally from Stamullen but now lives in Donore, spent a number of years appearing as Tina Turner in shows and at parties.

“In 2018 I decided to hang up the heels and take a break from my appearances and thought I would never get on the stage again” Brian told Drogheda Life.

“The death of Tina in May got me thinking about how much she influenced my life through her music and how she was such an inspiration to so many people to keep on striving for better things.”

With this in mind Brian has decided to do one more show to raise funds for the Drogheda Women’s and Children’s Refuge, a local charity that is so appropriate when you consider Tina’s private life and her road to becoming the strong person she became.

This show is not all about Brian and Tina though, it is being planned as a Lipsync battle and eight contestants are needed for the event which takes place in McHugh’s Venue on November 4th.

Brian is calling on local businesses to support his fundraiser for women and children in Drogheda who are fleeing the kind of violence and strife that Tina experienced in her life.

“Nominate a staff member to represent your business and take part in a Lipsync battle to raise funds for the Drogheda Women’s and Children’s Refuge” he said.

“Join the line up to show your support, advertise your business and help raise funds for this hardworking local charity. You don’t have to be an alto, tenor or even able to sing, just up for some fun and ready to become your musical icon for one night only.
